I know someone who can walk and run in heels. She's worn heels so long that she feels uncomfortable in flats.
You know Dolly Parton????

A global treasure.
Her treatment of workers and support of minorities is a shining example to others.

Global treasure, yes. Thank you for that. But for all the shit America has brought into the world, Dolly is someone that they can and should be truly proud of.

I feel like the most dangerous thing for most establishments is a person who believes their bullshit and internalises it and then brings that into the world.

Carrot was that for the policing system in Ankh-Morpork.

I really think that people like Dolly are the ones who will destroy our current system by living its lies.

"All people are equal" Dolly really believes that. She is a product of the system but she uses every ounce of her influence to make it real.
She isnt perfect. But she is a legitimate hero.

A few of the things Dolly has done;
1989
Parton gives $500 scholarships to every high school student in Sevier County

1991
Eagle Mountain Sanctuary opens at Dollywood
Managed by the American Eagle Foundation, the 30,000-square-foot aviary houses what the organization describes as the country's largest collection of "non-releasable" bald eagles.

1995
The Imagination Library begins mailing books to young children
sends one book per month to each enrolled child from birth until their first year of school, the major focus of the Dollywood Foundation. The Imagination Library was founded in tribute to Parton's father, who was unable to read.
Originally intended to just serve the children of Sevier County, Tennessee, the Imagination Library has since broadened its reach outside of the United States. In 2006, the Library began shipping books to children in Canada and, in the following year, the United Kingdom. The program expanded to Australia in 2013.
2000

Parton establishes the Dolly Parton Scholarship
Every year, five high school seniors in Sevier County, Tennessee, are awarded the Dolly Parton Scholarship, which provides $15,000 for each recipient to pursue a college education.

2016
Parton establishes the My People Fund
Parton pledged that she would donate $1,000 per month for six months to families who lost their homes in the aftermath of wildfires that ripped through the Great Smoky Mountains in 2016. In addition to donating her own money to the My People Fund, Parton also hosted two star-studded telethons to raise funds for fire victims, ultimately raising and donating millions of dollars.  the Dollywood Foundation also provided college scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the region who had lost their homes in the fires.

2016
Parton awards a $30,000 Special Merit Scholarship
In 2016, Parton made headlines by awarding a $30,000 Special Merit Scholarship to a 2-year-old girl named Evey Johns in recognition of the Imagination Library's milestone of shipping out one million books per month. Johns, who had enrolled in the Imagination Library,

2016
Parton comes out in support of transgender rights

2017
Parton donates $1 million to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt

2020
Parton funds COVID-19 vaccine research
As the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the United States, Dolly Parton donated $1 million to help fund vaccine research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

So I am not a fan of private philanthropy. I think it should be a governments job to do what is for the best in society. What Dolly has given is a very small percentage of her net worth. It is nice to see but it shouldn't have to be up to a private citizen to help people out. I would much rather see them taxed and then the money dispersed by the government or the voters.

Anyways, in the 70's everyone had really cool cars, used to beat up freshman on summer break, party at the Moontower, and had to sign waivers saying they wouldn't do drugs if they wanted to play football.

Bell Bottom Denim with stitched patches.... Bloused collared shirt, OR striped Tee.... OR Tee with an Ironed-On glitter pic of something current. ALSO.... either desert boots, or side zipper boots. Cords were still around too in every color.

I'd like to see both. Surely those with metric fucktons of money can find some good use for it. Bill Gates does. Warren Buffet does. Elon and Zuck and Bezos could, but don't.

The system that allows some people to become obscenely wealthy while others starve in the street is as good a definition of EVIL as I can think of.

Dolly Parton has always been a generous and kind and humane person.

Not sure what either of those things has to do with 1970's clothing.
