Hope all is well by you Danial. Looks like wild fires on the Island of Maui. I hear the town of Lahina was hit particularly bad.

Oh man I hadn't thought of that, but now I desperately want it to be true.

I was hoping that there were just that many people fascinated by my paddling experiences.  :undecided:

I think I am the only one here that has had canoe paddling lessons from Daniel. He is a very good teacher

General Discussion / Sumo
July 25, 2020, 10:05:46 PM
Any sumo fans out there? Me and the wife have been hooked on sumo for 10 years now. It is going on in Japan right now. It is day 6. In March they had no fans in the stadium.  They canceled the May basho. This one in July they have limited the amount of fans in the stadium.

Just wondering if I'm the only one here.

General Discussion / Facebook
November 18, 2017, 08:22:46 AM
I have a question.  I deactivated my Facebook account about a year and a half ago. Just lately I have been getting text from Facebook with an activation code for "Facebook for android". This started in October.  What does this mean and should I be concerned, if it means what I think it means?

At this time I have no desire to be on Facebook. I rarely went on it when it was activated and the only time I posted was to wish people happy birthday.  I just never connected with the format.

Books / buying the Nook
November 25, 2010, 12:19:53 PM
Well I am going to go with the Nook this Christmas for the wife. The Nook and the Kindle both seem very similar the deciding factor was that I can get library books with the Nook and not with the Kindle. I am not to keen on buying the Nook or the Kindle because I think eventually one format will win out over the other. I am just worried about a VHS vs Beta max sorta thing.

So I guess my question to all you e-book reader owners out there is should I get the 3g version or just stick with the wi-fi version. I do not see the wife getting newspapers or mag with this so it would just be books from the library and such. She also doesn't travel and would use it mostly at work and at home .Any thoughts?

General Discussion / On Arab TV
February 07, 2008, 09:25:55 PM
I don't know if this is real or not but if it is this woman kicks ass http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=1050wmv&ak=nul

It is extremely surprising that the Arab financed TV in Dubai would allow
this to air. Be sure and watch this, it is so powerful I have no doubt
she now has a very large price on her head. I also have no doubt it
won't be on the air long.

She is one impressive woman. Here is a powerful and amazing statement on
Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American
psychologist from Los Angeles. I would suggest watching it ASAP because I
don't know how long the link will be active.

I just read this in the Chicago Tribune. I just don't get it. Here's the link:

I mean didn't they debunk this stuff? Unless there is new evidence that this works now.

This is probably not the right form to ask this question but here it goes. When fundamentalist say the Bible is the exact word of god do they mean the english translation only or should they go to the language that it was originally writen in like say Greek, Hebrew or Latin? I know Islam was writen in Arabic and they say you can translate the Quran(Koran) into any language that you want but the only true translation is Arabic. I am not sure but I think the Tora is the same way in that respect as the Quran. I just find this as being a problem for any translation from the origanal text. Translations always sort of generalize to a point and I would think going from Latin or Greek to English would be a problem. I know there having a real problem translating Manderin to English with computers. Any Ideas on that or do fundamentalist just gloss over that like every thing else that contradicts them?
